Reconnect power to washer plug in.
Maytag 3000 washer locked with door open.
You will hear the door click when it unlocks.
If there is no motor humming pull the washer forward and unplug it.
If the door lock is damaged or does not latch properly replace it.
After plugging the washer in one of the following 3 events will happen.
The door lock led light will blink.
If the door lock is defective the washer door will not latch properly.
Inspect the door lock for damage.
The door may immediately unlock.
If not call for service.
The washer will go into a hold and drain routine for 8 minutes.
Once the washer door is closed the washer can begin operating.
Run a drain and spin cycle.
The door lock secures the washer door shut during operation.

The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically.
Unplug washer or disconnect power.
The top panel will pull straight back up and off.
Remove the lower kick panel.
Reach up along the inside of the front and locate the bottom of the door switch lock unit.

Located on the bottom of the door switch lock unit is a teardrop shaped tab.
Wait approximately 2 minutes for control to reset.
Remove the screws coming in from the back of the top panel.

Front loaders have a locking mechanism to avoid opening the door during a washing cycle but occasionally this lock will be activated accidentally.
The door should unlock after 60 seconds.
For that new maytag washer that you have you will need to unplug the washer and remove the bottom front service panel as shown in the image below.
If the washer will not unlock at the end of a wash cycle unplug the washer or disconnect power.

The door should unlock after this is complete.
The door will not immediately unlock while the cycle is running due to a possible high water level in the washer high water temperature tumbling or spinning.
Nothing else will appear to be happening with the machine during this time.
You should then be able to open the washer door.
It may take up to five minutes for the washer to stop spinning and draining before the door will unlock.
